The is applicable to general scenario’s but may not include specific data from your choice of suppliers or be adjusted to local regulations. To accomodate you can create your own materials using products and components. Creating products
Products are like materials, they have a weight and an environmental impact. Although these can be used directly in a calculation, it is considered best practice to first translate into a sensible unit of measurement through a component.
Using an EPD
When making new products make sure the unit declaration, weight and source are well documented and checked. Information on environmental impact can be found all over the web in various databases, a short list can be found . Commonly, information can be found in EPD’s. Most suppliers provide these on their website. If you do not have an EPD at this time, download the through the embedded link or in the PDF viewer below.
Make sure to check to learn more about EPD’s and how to read them. Creating components
Components are the building blocks for any calculation. Components are built from products to represent anything from detailled build ups such as facade build ups with all the nuts and bolts to how much concrete a structural system needs per floor area.
Building ▶️ System ▶️ Component ▶️ Product
A component is part of a bigger system such as a structure or a facade and oftenly consists of multiple products.
